Paul made a good statement in Philippians 4:11, he says "...for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content".
And he was right, we can do that. When I reflect upon my situation, I can even make a remark like Lou Gherig did when he was dying. He said that he was the luckiest man that ever lived. But to tell you the truth, most of us could do that if we tried. I don't know of anyone who has been blessed much more than I. Not materially but with the things that really count.
Eventhough I was raised in the hill country of Alabama, plowing an old mule, hoeing and picking cotton, with patches on my overalls, I was sincerely blessed. Even the old mule was a wonderful animal. She did her best to obey your every command. I was one of 8 children with good Christian parents and we all loved one another. My wife and I raised 3 children and all of us loved each other.
We locked no doors back then, nobody there would steal from you or harm you. I believe that God gave me life during the finest of all times. I've always had sufficient food and a shelter, clothing and about anything I really needed. What more can a man ask?
I have determined to try and accept whatever life may dole from here on out, and to always try and remember that I have indeed enjoyed exceeding blessings from God.
